The last month of the summer is here. Get over the dog days by keeping yourself occupied. Here’s a good question: when was the last time your bathroom got a makeover? Beyond merely keeping it clean, there might be times in which a full-scale update is in order. Or maybe, you want to be more frugal? When your budget isn’t limitless, you’ll have to get creative!
Use Identical But More Affordable Materials
Our first piece of advice deals with the materials you’ll use. The quickest and easiest way to stretch your remodeling budget is to keep what you already had. This suggestion sounds strange, but refurbished materials can make a magnificent difference. For instance, luxury vinyl flooring is a fantastic substitute for real wood; it’s much cheaper and looks the same!
Try Repainting the Bathroom Floor
If LVT doesn’t appeal to you, that’s fine! Another approach we recommend is to repaint the bathroom floor instead. As we indicated above, tile flooring can save you some valuable money. Warped and water-damaged wooden planks aren’t just ugly – they can be safety hazards as well. Still, replacing the flooring material can be time-consuming and labor-intensive. A simpler way to solve the problem is to apply water-resistant paint. Protective enamel is also a great choice. Enamel protects the roots of your teeth, so take advantage of that principle and protect your floor!
Consider Refinishing the Bathtub
Does your bathtub look old-fashioned and worn-out? If there’s nothing wrong with it from a structural standpoint, that means you can refinish it. Removing the old tub and putting in a brand new one should be your last resort. Relining and refinishing the tub and the shower is another quick solution. However, at some point, you’ll need to seek professional assistance for installation and upkeep.
Spot-Fixing the Tub Helps Too
Depending on the severity of the damage to your bathroom, the repairs might not need to be so dramatic. Touching up the tub isn’t as effort-involved as refinishing. You can use this strategy to eliminate scratches, gouges, and cracking paint. It’s so easy that you’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t do it sooner!
Replace the Existing Hardware Pieces
Finally, at least for now, we’ll say this: replace the hardware. Purchasing and then installing new cabinets can drain your funds surprisingly quickly. Instead, extract the old hardware. Then put newer counterparts in their place. Confirm that the screw alignments line up with the holes that you’re going to need. Besides, this shred of forethought will save you the trouble of having to power up the drill and make new holes!
