Making your home more beautiful is a project that always seems more daunting than it needs to be. That’s why home improvement is a worthwhile investment. Most of the time, this means interior remodeling, but sometimes, you can focus your efforts on the curb appeal of your home’s exterior.
Give a Green Thumbs-Up
One idea is to play around with grass on your lawn. Mow it down if you need to and get rid of weeds. Then water your lawn – although storms might blow through your neighborhood all spring lawn, you don’t want the grass to get dried out and turn brown, which can subtract from your curb appeal.
Make the Front Door Pop
Don’t forget about how the front door looks! Repaint the door so it catches the eye. Your entire exterior doesn’t need to blend in as long as you aren’t too exuberant about it. A little bit of contrast can go a long way.
Say Yes to Symmetry
Never underestimate the value of symmetry when it comes to aesthetics. This doesn’t need to be a design nightmare, either. Just place the same type of wall light on both sides of the front door or plant the same bushes or shrubs on both sides of the steps if the porch is elevated off the ground even by a single step up or down.
Upgrade the Mailbox
The mailbox is one of the most important parts of your home. Believe it or not, it can also add to or detract from your overall curb appeal. It all depends on the type of mailbox you already use. It could be a small and quick change that makes an enormous difference or a project that is a bit more involved than you might expect before you can get started. Get rid of the old mailbox that has seen its share of seasons and then replace it with a brand new one that is far more beautiful.
Keep It Clean
There’s something to be said about keeping your home’s exterior clean. All you need is to use a power washer. Then spray the water on your siding, your front porch, and your driveway. Then spend some time cleaning out the gutters to make sure that no debris is left in there to clog it up.
